KARIBU-KILIFAIR BUYER FAQs

Semi-hosted travel agent/buyer program

  1. Do you suggest any specific flights?

As our visitors come from all over the world, we are not in a position to suggest any specific flights. Please check the connection that suits you best and use the discount you might take advantage of as travel agent/ airline ticket agent.

  1. Are airport transfers included?

Free airport transfers are not included. However private transfers and shuttles will be available at discounted prices.

Please check for availability in your General Information.

  1. Are all of my meals included?

We do not offer meals! At the official events, we do provide finger food only - please refer to the event program online. There are some evenings at leisure in case you wish to explore Arusha or meet up with industry friends.

In regards to the FAM trip, please refer to the itinerary that you selected. Included meals are detailed for you; please note that any meal not mentioned will be at your own expense.

  1. Is my accommodation included for the duration of my time in Arusha?

Accommodation is available at a discounted special rate. We are happy to put you in contact with the KKF accommodation partners listed on our General Information page. Particular properties which exhibit at the fair remain available should you wish to make your own arrangements or for extra stays or site visits.

  1. Do I need special luggage?

If you are on a flying safari, or if any transport on your itinerary involves an internal flight, we recommend traveling with a smaller soft bag for your FAM trip. The small aircrafts used for domestic flights in Tanzania have strict luggage (soft bag) allowance of 15kg. Domestic airports do not have traditional luggage storage facilities. We suggest you make arrangements with your Arusha hotel to keep your suitcase.

  1. Who will meet me on arrival?

JRO (Kilimanjaro International Airport) will be manned by a representative of the KKF team. Please look for the KARIBU/KILIFAIR Desk inside arrivals during normal working hours. Should your flight arrive in the middle of the night, please proceed out of the terminal and look for your transfer displaying your name to be taken directly to your hotel if you booked before arriving!

  1. How will I get to/from the expo?

Over the duration of the expo in Arusha, transfers are included to and from the Magereza Ground where the event will be held.

All travelers entering Tanzania require a yellow fever vaccination. Please obtain this from your local travel clinic or doctor. Please travel with your yellow fever certificate as you may be asked to present this at the airport.

  1. Do I need to take malaria medication?

Parts of Tanzania have a greater malaria risk than others. Please consult your travel clinic or doctor for guidance.

  1. Do I need to carry travel insurance?

Yes, as part of our terms and conditions for the hosting program, we ask that you take out travel insurance cover and provide proof of cover before travel.

  1. What is Speed Networking?

This is where exhibitors and buyers or travel influencers meet in 5 minutes mini-meetings. They will be sat in a way that makes them easy to access and easy to approach. This is the most efficient way to get the right people to talk to each other face to face.

  1. Why semi-hosted agent/buyer and not fully-hosted?

KARIBU-KILIFAIR is organized by Kilifair Promotion Co. Ltd – a privately owned company and not governmental. Fully hosted buyer programs are known from several tourism fairs in other African countries, to prove tourism by statistics only. The country of Tanzania is full of amazing attractions and KARIBU-KILIFAIR provides the biggest Tourism platform in central Africa for worldwide stakeholders & interested travel agents/buyers. Both, Tanzania itself and KARIBU-KILIFAIR are attractive enough to make buyers come and choose from hundreds of exhibitors & new business contacts. We are happy to support serious buyers with various amenities, such as Fam Trips, free workshops, discounted accommodation and free shuttle service, just to mention a few.

  1. Climate

The climate of Tanzania in June is colder than most travelers think. For Arusha please expect sunny days with a chance of short rain showers and approximated temperatures between 25°C during the day and down to 12°C during the night. Temperatures during evenings & nights in the Northern Safari Circuit can go as low as 5°C. Please be prepared.

  1. Safety

Although Tanzania is rated as one of the safest countries in Africa, please be aware of pickpockets on streets, public transport, tourist attractions, and gatherings, as well as on the fairground. Lock your valuables in the hotel safe and carry little cash money. Keep smartphones & laptops under close supervision.

  1. Cash ATM Machines and currency

Our sponsor NMB Bank will be present at the fairground and does provide an ATM machine for cash withdrawal as well as a currency exchange facility.
